While this step is important to reduce bleeding risks, it may increase your risk of stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA or “mini-stroke”). Recognizing the Signs of Stroke or TIA: Be alert for the following warning signs (FAST): * Face – Is it drooping on one side? * Arms – Can you raise both arms, or is one weak? * Speech – Is your speech slurred or jumbled? * Time – If you notice any of these signs, call 9-1-1 immediately. Other possible symptoms include: * Sudden numbness or tingling, especially on one side of the body * Trouble understanding or speaking * Vision problems (blurred or double vision) * Sudden dizziness or loss of balance * Severe headache with no known cause These signs are based on information from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. https://www.heartandstroke.ca/heart-disease/emergency-signs/heart-attack-and-stroke If you experience any of these symptoms, call 9-1-1 immediately. Do not drive yourself to the hospital. Prompt medical attention is crucial.
